Garage door repair in Fort Myers, on both sides of the river

Walk around the door with the list below. It goes from the spring bar to the floor and tells you what to leave alone until the truck arrives. Most repairs are done in one to two hours at your house.

  • On site: 1 to 2 hours for most repairs
  • License CGC15***68

Walk the door from top to bottom

  • Look up at the bar above the door. A spring that split in two means a spring repair, and the door stays down until then.
  • Look at the bottom corners. A loose cable, or one corner sitting lower than the other, points to the cables.
  • Look along the side tracks. Rollers sitting outside the track mean the door is off track, so leave it where it stopped.
  • Look at the rollers themselves. Cracked wheels or wobbly stems explain a door that grinds and shakes: roller replacement.
  • Look at each section. A crease or a crack in one of them is usually a panel job, and the rest of the door can stay.
  • Watch it close. If it touches the floor and goes back up, check the safety sensors; if the motor hums and nothing moves, the opener or a spring is the suspect.

What the visit looks like

Before the truck leaves, a text tells you the technician's name and truck number. Another one comes from our office while the truck is on its way, as it reaches the bridge if there's one between us. At the door, the tech disconnects the opener and checks how the door balances by hand. That one test says a lot about the springs, the cables and the tracks. Then the rest gets a look: drums, rollers, hinges, the opener and its sensors.

You approve a written price, with the broken part named on it, before the work begins. Something worn but still working gets pointed out and stays off the bill unless you want it done. It's the same visit in an older house off McGregor Boulevard, a canal home in Cape Coral or a new build in Lehigh Acres.

Until the truck gets there

  • If the door jerked, stopped or went crooked, don't run the opener again. Unplug it so nobody in the house presses the button.
  • Keep kids, pets and the car out from under the door.
  • Leave the springs, the cables and the bottom corner brackets alone. They're under enough tension to carry the door, and they can cut or crush.
  • Text a photo of the door, the spring above it and any label on the inside of the door to (239) 990-3754. It helps the tech load the right part.

Renting, or owning from another state

About half the homes in the city of Fort Myers are rentals. If you're the tenant, call or text and tell us who approves repairs: the written price goes to your landlord or property manager, and the work waits for their yes.

If you own the house and live out of state, ask for the arrival texts too: the tech's name and truck number before the truck leaves, a text while it's on the way, and one with the tech's photo when it pulls up.

Questions about garage door repair

One to two hours covers most repairs, counted from the first look to the last test run. That's time at the house; the arrival window is separate, and you get it on the phone.

Yes. The price is written down, with the broken part named, and you approve it before the work begins. Anything else the tech notices goes on a separate line and only gets done if you say yes.

Yes, both banks of the Caloosahatchee: Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach on the south side, North Fort Myers and Cape Coral across the bridges, and east to Lehigh Acres, Alva and Buckingham. The full list is on the service areas page.

Yes. Your tenant lets the tech in, and the written price comes to you first, so you approve the repair before anything is touched.

Tell us what the door is doing

A person answers, day or night. Describe the door or text a photo, and you'll hear what it probably is, how long the fix takes and when a truck can get to you.
