How the truck gets to North Fort Myers
North Fort Myers is across the river from our trucks. The truck usually takes the Edison Bridge.
When the Edison backs up, the truck switches to the Caloosahatchee Bridge on US-41. Both slow down at rush hour, and the arrival window you get on the phone allows for that.
Dario from Fort Myers Garage Doors N More is heading to North Fort Myers in truck 2.
Dario is on the Edison Bridge, headed your way. Next text when he parks.
The permit comes from the county
North Fort Myers isn't a city. It's unincorporated Lee County, so replacing a garage door takes a county Windows, Doors, Shutters permit, even when the new door is the same size as the old one. Contractors file it through the county's eConnect portal, and the application lists the new door's Florida Product Approval. We handle the filing. How permits work around here.
Riverfront and canal homes
Most of North Fort Myers sits in the 160-mph band on Lee County's wind map. A house that faces open water, along the river or at the mouth of a canal in a neighborhood like Lochmoor Waterway Estates, can also fall in wind exposure D, which calls for a much higher design pressure than the same house a few streets inland. If your door was picked for an inland lot, it's worth a look. Wind-rated and impact doors.
When the door turns to dead weight
Springs carry the weight of a garage door, so a healthy door rises smoothly and feels light. If the opener strains, the door crawls up or stops a foot off the ground, a spring may have lost its tension or snapped. Don't pull the release cord to test it, don't climb a ladder and don't keep pressing the button. Leave the door down and call. Replacing both springs takes about an hour.
